While Zoom has done an admirable job of keeping us connected during lockdowns, nothing quite beats the thrill of getting glammed up for an actual real life social gathering. Whether it’s cosy drinks at a neighbour’s, or going ‘out out’ for the rst time in months, we’ve all missed the anticipation of getting party-ready after slouching around in leggings and a top-knot for what feels like forever. Not to mention the instantly uplifting e ect a slick of lipstick or perfectly practised cat’s-eye ick seems to have on our self-con dence. If you’re worried that you’re out of practice, don’t be. You won’t be the only one dusting o your beauty repertoire. Plus, to help inspire you we’ve enlisted three beauty experts who (whisper it) just love to get their party looks on. Cue party-ready skin Party skin is glowing skin, which roughly translates as healthy skin – doubly important as we approach a time when late nights and indulgences can have a negative impact on our complexions. Thankfully, there’s much we can do to prepare. Skincare expert Lisa Franklin shares her glow-getting wisdom for your most luminous party season skin yet… DIY SKIN GLOW ‘To prep skin for the ultimate party glow, I like to use a Vitamin C & E serum to help revitalise and brighten the entire complexion,’ says Franklin. ‘Start using now and continue every night after cleansing and toning throughout the festive period.’ Try this: Natura Siberica Brightening Face Serum (£10.49, 15ml, 40 points) ‘If skin looks tired before a big night out, try some gentle moves using a rose quartz Gua Sha [a tool used in traditional Chinese medicine to massage skin] or a roller to boost circulation and light up your complexion.’ Try this: Psychic Sisters Rose Quartz Facial Roller (£29.95, 116 points) MASKINGMAGIC ‘The night before, use a clay mask as part of your evening pampering prep. The purifying properties of natural clay will help draw out impurities and leave your skin looking and feeling soft and smooth.’ Try this: Five Dot Botanics Pure Rewind Clay Mask (£28, 30ml, 112 points) Make-up trends to try Now that your skin is perfectly prepped, it’s time to talk make-up. And where better to nd inspiration than the autumn/winter 2021 catwalks? All the party season perennials – think red lips and icky liners – were present, but this time with a playful twist. So think outside the box and choose one feature to focus on. Make-up artist Nadira Persaud shows us how. LIT-FROM-WITHIN SKIN Ditch the powder for today’s dewy skin e ects. ‘Recreating the dewy complexions seen at Prada and Valentino is all about the prep,’ says Persaud. ‘Massage your cleanser into skin using circular motions, removing with a gentle face brush or muslin cloth for a natural circulation boost.’ Try this: Sukin Cream Cleanser (£7.95, 125ml, 28 points) ‘Follow by applying a layer of a hydrating serum all over your face, followed by a rich, buttery-textured moisturiser,’ Persaud adds. ‘This will sit slightly on the skin’s surface creating a natural glow. ‘For added glow-factor, perform some gentle pressure techniques as you apply your moisturiser, patting onto the skin then gently pinching all over your face. Next, place both thumbs under the chin and press the sides of the index ngers to the inner part of the face, and glide outwards to increase blood ow and promote a plumper- looking complexion. ‘Finally, apply a BB cream that o ers light coverage, using concealer to zone in on any uneven areas.’ Try this: PHB Ethical Beauty BB Cream (£20, 30g, 80 points) healthy-magazine.co.uk 85 CL EAN BEAUT Y
