Because exercising on empty = disappointing sweat

We’re turning up the notch on our fitness this month for #FreshStartSeptember.  And whether you’re running, swimming, stretching, lifting – or just leaping around in your living room, that movement needs fuel.

Who better to share some snackspiration than Total Wipeout presenter and bonafide fittie, Amanda Byram. Judging by her Instagram, she combines a passion for working her body with a healthy appetite for abundant and nutritious food.

‘A good workout is one of the best feelings in the world. But a bad workout can leave you feeling deflated,’ says the 42-year-old. ‘The food we eat before a workout has a lot to do with how we perform,’ she adds.

But what if you’re trying to lose weight, isn’t fasted cardio the answer?

‘I get it, the thought of skipping the calories is tempting, but it is not a good idea. You can burn a little bit of body fat, but you won’t be able to perform as well, or last as long,’  she explains.

Her logic: think of your body like an engine that needs fuel, especially when you’re amping up your training. Watch the video below to get Amanda’s simple and delicious power-up recipes.
