For International Women’s Day today (March 8), we’ve rounded up the five women in wellbeing who inspire us to live better and more balanced lives – whether it’s eating healthier, sleeping more or playing more sport.

When it comes to women in health, we recognise that we need a range of role models, and that’s what we’ve aimed to put together. We believe it is a sterling line-up of women who, at any age or life stage, have managed to harness the power of wellbeing in order to improve their own lifestyles and inspire others to do the same.

Without further ado, here’s our top five inspiring women in wellbeing:

Davina McCall

One of Britain’s most well-loved television presenters with a career spanning over two decades, Davina is also celebrated for the realistic, ‘can-do’ attitude she conveys in her line of fitness DVDs and cookery books. Her most recent book, Davina’s 5 Weeks To Sugar-Free, is packed with healthy, satisfying recipes to suit everyone, however busy. We love her pragmatic attitude to women in health, at any age: ‘Get out and get moving – remember getting fit doesn’t have an age limit. And get cooking from scratch. But whatever regime you choose the most important things is – just start!’

Jennie Price

Jennie is the CEO of Sport England, and the brains behind the tremendously successful #ThisGirlCan campaign, launched back in early 2015, which persuaded 2.8 million women to become more active. The campaign tackled what many had perceived as a gender gap for women in sport. The only child of a sports-mad father, Jennie said in a previous interview: ‘The power of sport to create spectacle and engage and connect people is one of the things I grew up with.’

Arianna Huffington

As founder of the Huffington Post, Arianna used her power and influence to put sleep back on the agenda in her book The Sleep Revolution. Because if one of the world’s most successful business women swears by a good night’s sleep, then we should, too. Last year she also stepped down from the Huffington Post in order to launch a start-up, Thrive Global, focused on promoting health and wellness.

Ruby Wax, OBE

Actress and comedian Ruby has produced a wealth of material dealing openly with her own depression, including an online BBC series; a bestselling comedy show, Ruby Wax: Losing It; and a one woman show, Ruby Wax: Sane New World. Her most recent book, Frazzled, is a witty, honest account of the pressures women go through, and how mindfulness changed her life.

Ella Mills

The sky is the limit for wellbeing woman of the moment Ella, aka Deliciously Ella. She started with her cooking blog back in 2012, and has since launched The Mae Deli chain (with two permanent locations in London), written a series of cookbooks and launched a range of energy balls. She also appeared on the BBC Horizon documentary, Clean Eating – The Dirty Truth, to defend negative claims made against the wellness movement.
