Apple, kale and maple smoothie
In need of some healthy breakfast inspo? Try whizzing up this green smoothie recipe, which packs a nutritious punch. It contains spinach and kale, for vitamins C and K, as well as antioxidant-rich apples, which are a source of vitamin A, needed for healthy vision. Low-fat Greek yogurt adds protein, while oats provide a dose of heart-healthy beta gluten. Simply whizz all of the ingredients together in a blender, adding some maple syrup for sweetness.
Serves 6
150g baby spinach
150g kale
4 Granny Smith apples (peeled and cored)
2 tbsp pure Canadian maple syrup (preferably dark syrup for its robust taste)
200ml almond milk or water if preferred
3 tbsp low fat Greek yoghurt
2 tbsp rolled oats
Add all the ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses to serve.
Tip: If making in advance, make the smoothie without the oats and blitz in before serving.
