Spice up your summer exercise routine: 5 exciting new workouts
Let’s face it – we all want to look our best during summer time. With those long-awaited summer holidays approaching surprisingly fast, over a quarter of Brits vow to begin a new, healthy, exercise-filled lifestyle after planning their trip. But following the same routine for weeks is bound to get boring at times. In fact, the average person holding a single gym membership is likely to quit after just three months. Worried it might happen to you? Fear no more – we’re here to make your workouts fun again.
Together with MoveGB, an on-demand fitness provider, we’ve gathered five new, very different classes to keep you engaged. Goodbye pounding the treadmill, hello next-gen yoga, parkour and twerking – with these workouts, there’s no place for boredom.
New age yoga
Natural scents, brain stimulating soundscapes, therapeutic colourful lights – this is ChromaYoga. Based in Shoreditch, it’s an experimental experience combining fitness and creativity, where you can work on mind and body. If you want to challenge yourself more physically, try aerial yoga (or anti-gravity yoga, as some like to call it) where you’ll have the chance to work on your core and increase muscle flexibility, whilst being (literally) suspended in the air by low-hanging Aerial Slings. Flying and working on our abs at the same time? Yes please.

Bouldering
Want to increase your mobility, strength, flexibility, and lose fat at the same time? Then this workout is for you. Bouldering is a challenging indoor climbing session, mixing cardio and strength. You’re not only required to navigate your way through different heights, levels and textures, but also judge your reach, strength, and energy levels. A great challenge for the body and the mind.

Parkour
Not just flips and jumping between rooftops as many might think; parkour is a form of free-running with obstacles along the way, that improves flexibility, core strength, balance, mobility, and endurance. Sounds like a dream – albeit a challenging one – sign us up.

Pole dancing and twerking
Who said dancing can’t be both fun and efficient? These classes definitely prove it’s possible. Pole dancing, which is actually a combination of dancing and acrobatics, helps you work on coordination, strength, balance, flexibility, and posture. It also burns up to 400 calories an hour, which makes it a great solution for those looking for a fun physical challenge that promises results. Want to tone up your legs, glutes, tum, and feel like a badass? Try twerking.

Mixed martial arts
If you’re looking for a workout that will efficiently target both your physical and mental wellbeing, this one is for you. Considered full-body High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), MMA improves strength, mobility, flexibility, and promotes fat-loss – which combined, results in sky-high self-confidence and reduced stress. Win-win.
