Time to escape…4 detox holidays we’re lusting after
What does going on holiday mean to you? For many of us, it’s a much-needed chance to reboot our health and fitness, according to new findings from PlenishCleanse.com. Their recent survey of 1,012 UK adults revealed that that 6 in 10 Brits would rather have a detox holiday, focussed on health and wellbeing, rather than a booze-fuelled party holiday (looks like the ‘Brits abroad’ stereotype is out-of-date!).

Frankly, with the average holiday weight gain totalling five pounds due to alcohol (4 in 10) and too many second helpings (1 in 6), it’s no wonder that our increasingly wellness-conscious nation is opting for holidays with feel-good benefits that linger on long after the plane home, with no need for a post holiday detox diet. From Tuscan yoga retreats to healing staycations, here are the top four we’re lusting after:
1 Healthouse Las Dunas, Malaga
Recently awarded the ‘Best Health Hotel in Spain’ award at the Roca Hotel Awards, Healthouse offers personalised plans ranging from a weekend to a whole month. Expect both your mind and body to be looked after, with everything from pilates and personal training sessions to cookery lessons and emotional coaching. You’ll leave with a personalised health plan to help you maintain the benefits.
Healthy Weekend is 2 nights of full board accommodation at approximately £540 per person. Healthouse 7 Days is approximately £1,703 per person and is based on 7 days full accommodation.
2 Secret Yoga Club at Villa Lena
Where better to recharge your batteries than a four day yoga retreat in the heart of Tuscany? Factor in the seasonal Italian menu and the creative workshops from artists in residency, and you have the recipe for a well-rounded enriching getaway.
Single rooms start at £750, and shared rooms start at £575. Prices include all classes and workshops as well as daily brunch and supper at the villa.
3 BodyHoliday, St Lucia
Located in the exotic surroundings of St Lucia, BodyHoliday’s ‘BodyScience’ programme works with the results of home-based tests and DNA samples to create a nutrition and fitness programme that is tailor made for you. For instance, the tests work out whether you are a natural endurance runner or a sprinter, and your fitness goals are adjusted accordingly. Smart.
Prices for the programme start from $3,000 per person exclusive of guests stay, with three, five and seven day options.
4 LifeTonic Weekender, COMO Metropolitan London
No time to get away? Treat yourself to a British stay-cation at this weekend retreat, hosted by modern healer Jody Shield, which focuses on the ‘relationships we have with both ourselves and others’. Expect to experience meditation sessions, pilates, nutritious food, and a sumptuous overnight stay.
The LifeTonic Weekender at COMO Metropolitan London will take place Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September 2016. Priced at £250 per person for the two-day itinerary for guests who do not require an overnight stay / or £445 per person for the two-day itinerary and an overnight stay.
