3 of the best: St. Patrick’s Day green smoothies
Steering clear of Guinness this St. Patrick’s Day? Try our round-up of green smoothies instead to help you get in the spirit. The green shamrock, symbolic of the Holy Trinity, is key to this Irish festival. These nutrient-packed smoothies, ranging from the creamer Bioglan Super Green variety to Aldi’s freshing, exotic fruit-based juice.
Blend these up for an energising, hangover-free St. Patrick’s Day treat. Here’s how to make them:
St Patrick’s Day Super Green smoothie
Serves 1
Ingredients
1 banana
1 tsp Bioglan Superfoods Green Boost powder (available at Holland & Barrett)
1 tbsp cashew or white almond butter
220ml almond milk
3 cubes ice
Method
1 Place ingredients in a blender, adding the ice last.
2 Blend until smooth.

Nature’s Superblend smoothie
Serves 1
Ingredients
2 apples (Golden Delicious or any of your choice)
1 large handful of spinach
1/4 medium courgette
1 lime (wax-free and peeled)
2 medium carrots
1/4 medium cucumber
2cm chunk broccoli stem
1/2 stalk celery
1/4 green bell pepper
1/2 medium avocado
1 small handful ice cubes
Method
1 Juice all the ingredients except the avocado and ice.
2 Pour the juice into a blender, along with the avocado flesh and ice, and blend until smooth.

Exotic mango, pineapple and kale smoothie
Serves 1
Ingredients
200g mango chunks
200g pineapple chunks
30g curly kale
200ml apple juice
Method
1 Chop the kale finely.
2 Put all the ingredients into a food processor. Pulse till well blended and serve.
